Kaloud Samsaris Lapis Ceramic for Lotus II

The Kaloud Samsaris Lapis is the ceramic bowl for the Lotus II. Black or white. Same job as the aluminium Vitria II, different heat behaviour.

Ceramic holds heat rather than moving it around. Aluminium reacts to whatever your coals are doing within a minute. Ceramic absorbs temperature and releases it slowly, so the bowl takes longer to come up and then holds where it lands. On a two hour session that is the more useful property.

Ceramic or aluminium

• Lapis ceramic. Slow to heat, very steady after. Long sessions, and people who would rather set the coals once and leave them.
• Vitria II aluminium. Quick to heat, responds the moment you move a coal. Shorter sessions and active management.

Neither is the better bowl. They suit different habits.

Why the pairing matters

Cut for the Lotus II. The device seats flush, no gap, no silicone sleeve. Running a Lotus on a bowl built for a different generation leaves a gap, and a gap is heat going anywhere except into your tobacco.

Packing it

Fluff pack. Break the shisha apart, drop it in loosely to just under the lip, level it without pressing down. Leave a few millimetres of clearance, because shisha expands as it heats and tobacco touching the device scorches fast.

Give it a few extra minutes to come up compared to an aluminium bowl. That is the material, not a fault.

Care

Cool it completely before washing. Never run cold water over a hot ceramic bowl, because thermal shock is what actually cracks ceramic. Warm water and a soft brush. It will stain over time, which is cosmetic.
